Curated Books being the coverall of all things bookish, we thought we should document some of our bespoke offerings, each project we have worked on is so unique it would be exhaustive to go through what we can do, maybe easier to explain what we don’t offer! So, if you do not see it on our website please do ask.

Bespoke fine bindings

If you have that special book that is worse for wear, would like to be made a little extra special or you would like it personalised? Our in house binder is highly skilled with 40 years of experience and has worked on some very rare books and prestigious projects, choices of colours and materials, from very fine calf leather, vellum or cloth binding, these can be decoratively hand tooled and gilt to your exact specifications with leather labels and personalised titles. Presentation boxes can be made for your book.

We can offer this on runs of books.

Alternatively, if you do not have the book, let us know the title we will use our vast resources to find it for you with your preferred publication date and we can then get to work on your personalisation.

Bespoke resin Fake Panels

Sustainability being No1 priority for Curated Books, No2 is offering Items made in the UK, not only does this minimise our footprint (Priority No1) but we believe in skilled British workmanship and support those skills where we can.

The fake Panels we offer are made by hand in the UK, without question the best quality available, lightest weight, the most realistic. We often have to replace the competitors’ failed products due to weight and fragility. These can be used to conceal a multitude of sins, small scale would be to cover routers, wires radiator covers, traditionally used to cover secret doors, now mostly used in theatre and film as props.

We offer a bespoke service, all you need to do is give us your measurements, choose from your desired style and colours below, let us know if you have any personalisation requirements and we will do the rest, you will receive the panels bespoke to your exact measurements, panels are packed by each shelf with easy installation instructions, either directly glue them, or we can supply them on brackets, we can even fit them for you!

Please note, no books were harmed in this project!

We don’t just offer panels, we also offer full size 3D fake books, individual books or in stacks, again ultra-light weight and fully customisable. Our fake panels have be fire tested and are compliant.

If you want the real thing or a more modern option, for for example a fake bookshelf/concealed door, we do offer real books that are rejects due to quality to be used as false panels, we will trim the books down to your specified depth and adhere them a to a panel ready for you use either glued or attached to a bracket, we can even bind these in a real leather, again fully customisable. (please note we never destroy an intact book, only rejected books are used for these projects, books that would have other wise would have gone to waste)

There are not many materials we have not used for our fake books, we recently furnished Warner Brothers, Harry Potter studio tour with books made from polystyrene. Wooden stack of books to look like full size dolls house books.

Foredge painted books

The VANISHING Fore-edge Painting is a unique and traditional English book art with a history that is centuries old. These days it is limited to just a few artists, usually working on antique books, finely bound with pre-gilded edges.

However today this magic can also be achieved on many modern books too!

If you are looking for a gift for that person who has everything, this could we that very special item. As previously mentioned there are very few skilled artists of this craft. The artist we use is renown, MBE awarded for his skill in foredge painting also teaches his art all over the world. if you request a stock list and prices we will forward this to you, stock changes regularly and prices are not publicly available.

Secret Compartment books

We can create secret compartments within real books, usually in the most unassuming book to blend into your shelves seamlessly. We can even custom bind it to your spec with custom title label, this can be a single book any size or maybe a few books fused together to make a larger safe space
